Technology that change the world

Light emitting diodes, as most commonly referred LEDs,  is the recent technological advancement that had revolutionized the world . From wide uses in laptops to cellular phones or televisions they made the very own place in almost all gadgets that we often come across. Since the 1970s for incandescent and CFLS later on  LEDs  is been  used to replace conventional lighting  sources.

Why  LEDs better face of light then other sources ?

Advantages of LEDs

Efficiency: LEDs can produce more light per watt than incandescent and fluorescent bulbs. This is improving with every new generation of LEDs.

Heat emitted : LEDs radiate very little heat , in contrast to other light sources. Energy is dispersed as heat through the metal base of the LED.

Size: LEDs can be very small, providing flexibility in  its application.

On/Off time: Like incandescent lamps and unlike CFL'S , LED's come to full brightness without need for a warm-up time.

Life time: LEDs can have a relatively long useful life lasting from  35,000 to 50,000 hours of useful life, though time to complete failure may be longer. However, fluorescent lamps  are rated at about 10,000 to 15,000 hours and incandescent bulbs at 1,000–2,000 hours.

Environmental: LEDs do not contain mercury, reducing the risk of affecting environment.

Disadvantages of LEDs

·    High price: LEDs are currently more expensive, than most conventional lighting technologies.
·    Temperature dependence: LED performance largely depends on the ambient temperature of the operating environment. Adequate heat-sinking is required to maintain long life for years.

There is no doubt that the use of LEDs for lighting applications has the great potential to save energy and allow for new and inventive lighting methods.Led Bulbs an easy substitute for CFLS is majorly accepted across the country like India. Where as, LED Street Light, LED

Tubelight , LED PanelLights are widely acknowledged replacing old and traditional methods such as incandescent and fluorescent .

How does it effects us ?

The conversion  to LED Light,  could approach an estimated annual saving of 263 terawatt-hours. equivalent of taking 21 million households off the power grid. Reducing load at enormous  level from the grids in cities like  KanpurDelhi, Mumbai and other cities country wide.
